Particles and energy fluxes from a CFT perspective
نویسنده
چکیده
We analyze the creation of particles in two dimensions under the action of conformal transformations. We focus our attention on Mobius transformations and compare the usual approach, based on the Bogolubov coefficients, with an alternative viewpoint based on correlation functions. In the latter approach the absence of particle production under full Mobius transformations is manifest. We give examples, using the moving-mirror analogy, to illustrate the close relation between the production of quanta and energy. PACS: 11.25.Hf, 04.62.+v

We analyze the creation of particles in two dimensions under the action of conformal transformations. We focus our attention on Mobius transformations and compare the usual approach, based on the Bogolubov coefficients, with an alternative but equivalent viewpoint based on correlation functions. In the latter approach the absence of particle production under full Mobius transformations is manif...
متن کاملGauge Theory Scattering from the Ads/cft Correspondence
We use the AdS/CFT correspondence to study near forward scattering of colourless objects in gauge theory in the high energy limit. We find an unexpected from the gauge theory perspective ‘gravity-like’ s behaviour of the amplitudes coming from bulk graviton exchange.
متن کاملBrown-het-1178 Ta-570 High Energy Fluxes from a Non-scaling Cosmic String Network
Topological defects, particularly cosmic strings, can provide a mechanism to produce particles with energies of the order 10 eV and higher. Here, we report on order of magnitude calculations of fluxes from a cosmic string network which evolves according to a new scenario according to which the main channel for energy loss is the particle production rather than gravitational radiation. We compar...
متن کاملDuality twists, orbifolds, and fluxes
We investigate compactifications with duality twists and their relation to orbifolds and compactifications with fluxes. Inequivalent compactifications are classified by conjugacy classes of the U-duality group and result in gauged supergravities in lower dimensions with nontrivial Scherk-Schwarz potentials on the moduli space. For certain twists, this mechanism is equivalent to introducing inte...
متن کاملAtmospheric proton and helium fluxes compared to AIRES simulation results
Air shower simulation programs are important tools for estimating distributions of particles of different kinds, and that can be measured experimentally. The region of interest spans many orders of magnitude in primary energy, from atmospheric fluxes measured in balloon–borne experiments up to the highest energy cosmic rays detected at the Auger Observatory, for example. The comparison of obser...
